3.3/5.0 - I'm on the fence with Brooklyn Brewery and here's why... I enjoy their beers however the Brewery in it's current state is a commercialized version of what a Brewery ought to be, and that's to initiate fans of the brand to celebrate good beer without costing a bunch. $5 for a regular serving and $10 for an IIPA puts this as borderline silly as I'd rather enjoy it at my favorite bar or pub. Yes, they allow you to bring food in but this is not what I'd call a great experience. The tour itself, which I've gone through twice is a bit of an afterthought. I'd expect to see more, and be a tad more involved, and guests should have as many tastings as they'd like, in a low pressure environment. The ticket system is just plain silly in this sense. That being said, Brooklyn Brewery does do a lot to advance or further beer culture in the region. They host a lot of events and do a lot for NYC. Herein lies the problem for me for giving them either a 3 or a 5.
Had such a good time the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable on their product. Saturday was a long wait (only a certain amount is let in at a time) I believe it was cash only but not totally sure. Tour starts every hour so try to come early. And don't forget to tip the bartender they really know their stuff, one in particular was able to pick out a beer for my friends who normally don't drink beer.
If you plan to take the tour arrive 30-40 min earlier. Definitely try the arcade game, it's lots of fun and can play 4 ppl at once
Great place for a date or to spend a sunday with friends. They have free tours every hour or so and they have some cool seasonal brews that arent found in stores that you can sample. Its also a pretty cool place to celebrate a party since they allow outside food indoors.
I caught the subway over here on a Sunday afternoon as I knew you didn't need to book for the brewery tour. I'm glad i did, Brooklyn was lovely to walk around before and after. The brewery itself was fun, you buy tokens which you exchange for beer, more tokens the stronger the beer. I had a couple in there, just to be polite of course. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable it was a pleasure to visit.
